Caroline has built an extraordinary career in art and design. She started at the University of Massachusetts where she made history as the first student to earn double scholarships, one in art and the other in athletics. She graduated with a BFA in Painting. She then earned a master’s in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in New York, picking up a scholarship for Academic Excellence along the way. Caroline also studied at Pentagram Design Studio in London.
Her career took her from New York to the woods of Tennessee, where she co-founded Red Canoe. She was one of the early champions of remote studio work, showing that you don’t need a big-city address to create great design. Caroline became known for work that was both simple and meaningful, always telling a clear story.
Red Canoe worked with major clients like Barnes & Noble and Chronicle Books, helping shape their brands on a national scale. Caroline’s ability to turn complicated ideas into simple, powerful images earned her recognition as one of the 40 most influential graphic designers in the U.S. She’s won awards from Communication Arts, AIGA, and more, with her work featured in the AIGA Archives and Columbia University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Her watercolors have also earned awards and are collected for their quiet strength.
Caroline is respected for her sharp eye and attention to detail—she notices what most people miss. That instinct has shaped everything she does, from branding work to her art.
These days... she’s focused on creating paper goods that blend art and wit—a little color, a clever line, something to make you smile. Because sometimes, a spark of humor and a wash of blue can turn a simple note into a spark that lifts the human spirit—and reminds us that art has the power to change everything, starting with a single moment.
